Haman was going to shout and rage, but Mineva's sweetness was hard to deny. Instead she looked down at Bernie bowing and scraping and she almost smirked behind her hand.
"Come on now, get up." She held out her hand to help him up if he wanted it, even as her heart was still hammering with surprise inside her chest. He had hoped for at least one surprise today, but this what not quite what she had in mind. "I must admit, I did not see that one coming."
Mineva grinned, apparently pleased with herself for keeping Haman from going super nova on poor Bernie.
