Boosters are mostly hooked up to the Kojima reactor, so they're powered as such. Attaching them to anything else would drain the hell out of the generator in an instant unless you were one of those Celestial Being terrorists and their sparkle engines. The exception to this is Add Boosters for the shoulders and back mounted parts. To connect them to anything other than an AC... well... that in itself would be a rather cumbersome challenge... that may end catastrophically, but it theoretically could work.
