He started up the whole "Adventus" spiel about ten years ago. It started as your standard post-dated doomsayer cult, 'Second Impact was our fault because technology or pollution or Mayans or civil unions', whatever. Somewhere along the line, though, Chretien got the savvy and connections to get military backing from some of the Central Asian warlord states and got militant about it.
