Level 14

[Strange sounds can be heard in parts of White Chalice. Following them reveals Raynor, sitting behind a (borrowed) electronic keyboard, and practicing music... If it can be called that. He's trying to play Amazing Grace, but is a complete amateur about it... Or rather, amateur would be a big step up. At best the music is awkward and stiffled, with half of the notes missing or wrong, at worst it's a horrible, ear-rending cacophony. And he seems to be completely aware of that.]

Damnit... Is it because of my robotic arm? No, I wasn't any good at it before either...

I must try to honor their memory! Again!

[Horrible sounds from the tortured instrument continue.]

"Ha." Matthew concludes sheepishly, scratch at the scar on his neck.

He looks closer at what you're doing. "I have heard a device called a metronome can help with musical practice. Shall I get one?"

Matthew blinks as an idea comes to him. "Hold a moment."

He pulls out his tablet and punches at some icons. Muttering to himself.

Suddenly, there a brief ding, and Matthew holds up his tablet with triumph. The tablet is projecting a small holographic image of this:

"There is an app for that!"

"By giving you a rhythm." Matthew amends. "According to that Neo-Suzuki book, timing is the key to all forms of music. Starting with a slow and consistent rhythm should help you smooth things out."

He fiddles with the timer, and sets out an incredibly slow rhythm. Slower than the hearbeat of a hibernating bear.

"Try the right hand melody. See if it works."
