Good evening, everyone. I just received word from one of our observation posts that a Stalker matching the description of Stalker Shrike was seen in Alaska. There are several things I'd like to ask him, and I'm also a little worried about him. Who knows how long it has been since he's had any maintenance? Anyway, I'll be gone for a few days tracking him down. If you have an interest in thanatobiorobotics, you're welcome to come along.

Kamille didn't give a damn about much at the moment. He had just lost his brother-figure today, and while he would relay Cynthia's message later, he didn't want to deal with Kensuke OR Gainer. Right now, all he wanted was behind the door he was standing in front of. He had been knocking for a while, it was only a matter of time before she showed up.

Still, it was a wonder he hadn't broken down into tears the moment he made it to the hangar.

I've found an unused storage room and fixed it up to be...I suppose you'd call it a place of reflection. I installed sound insulation on the walls and soft carpeting [Though the Stalkers carried it there, but not actually into the room.] There's a small window that can be opened or shut, with heavy curtains. The overall atmosphere is quite peaceful, I think.

I suppose you could call it a place for reflection, or meditation, or praying. Use it as you like.

[2]

Later, Oenone can be found exactly there, with the curtains open to the midday sun. The light through the glass doors gives it a church-like atmosphere.

She prays there, not for forgiveness (it's either infinite and thus asking is unneccesary, or finite and thus impossible for her) but perhaps for two things: one that the consequences of the action she's taken don't hurt Kensuke, two for the peace of the dead man's soul, and three for guidance on what is right to do next.

Answers don't seem to come though. Perhaps the voice of God has been silenced by the wicked works of man again. Perhaps she contributed a bit to that herself in the past week.

[3/Private to Kamille]

After asking him up to Shortening Of The Way, she rounds on him with an expression of exasperation the gentle doctor rarely shows.

"Kamille...I can't believe someone who grew up under the Titans would show that level of...of stupid machismo!"

Meaning: he should have learned the lessons of how to be discreet, as it seems everyone who grew up under a dictatorship but him has.

[4/Private to Raynor]

Hello Mister Joz. I'm Surgeon-Mechanic Oenone Zero, of the Green Storm's Ressurection Corps. I have something for you, when you have some time.

[5/Private to Richard]

I'm almost finished. I'll be inviting him up to fit it today.

Hello White Chalice. I'm very happy to announce several things to you right now, the results of our mission against the mountain base.

First of all, The Stalker Fang is dead, permanently this time. Unfortunately it took her original personality, as Anna Fang, reasserting itself for this to happen. For a little while, she was the kind person the history books tell us she was. She rammed Requiem Vortext into Harrowbarrow, saving us and killing Wolf Kobold.

Second, Harrowbarrow contained the enormous, city-powered beam gun MEDUSA. It has been taken aboard.

Third, it also had plans for quick conversion of a large static city to a mobile one, derived from observation of the Yapan Exodus.

Fourth, both of the above were to be sold to an interested third party who would then have taken one of the world's greatest cities mobile and spread Municipal Darwinism at MEDUSA-point. Fortunately that does not seem like it will happen now.

Fifth, more secret documents were recovered from the base. Apparently they were developing a mag-lev system large enough for cities to use. We will be broadcasting this to any city that will listen. With mag-lev, there will be no need for cities to devour each other for fuel. Municipal Darwinism will soon pass into history.

White Chalice, I want to thank all of you for helping us get this far. General Naga has ordered that everyone who accompanied us is to be awarded the Wind Flower's Petals, Crimson Class, one of our more prestigious medals, and a cabin and forty acres of farmable land within our territory, if you ever decide to retire.

[2]

After sending that message, Oenone sits back in the arboretum, leaning against a tree trunk, her head tilted back. Something wet spills over and traces a line down her cheek, then another. It's tears of relief, for something that she'd been fighting for most of her life. And now it's over. Her brother and Stalker Fang can both rest in peace.

She feels lightheaded, empty, sweet. Where next? There are so many possibilities. The net is wide and infinite.

The recent announcement that Char Aznable and Haman Karn were to be summarily exiled had made Doctor Zero rather nervous. The Green Storm's rhetoric was even less restrained in its calls for a world "made green again" by any means necessary and the absolute destruction of all mobile cities. General Naga had been pushing a kinder, gentler Storm but fifteen years of warfare, including Stalker Fang's use of terrorism, wasn't erased so easily from the public consciousness.

With that in mind, she took several steps:

1: Turning Shortening Of The Way butt-first in its parking spot so the green lightning bolt symbols weren't immediately visible. She climbs back out and looks from various angles to be sure.

2: Packing her possessions so she was ready to leave at a moment's notice. It wasn't difficult. She had little in the way of personal effects, and her lab equipment all fit on the airship.

3: Nervously eavesdropping on any conversation that turned towards the subject. Where she couldn't be present, her Stalker ravens could, whirring and clicking, innocuously begging for snacksies.

4: Receiving a transmission from General Naga about the hunt for the (double) revived Stalker Fang.

He compliments her on the idea to try to draw her out by spreading fake rumors of his power base weakening. She humbly thanks him for his help and protection and asks him to keep the Fang Loyalists from trying to get to her by harming Kensuke. He enquires much less discretely than he thinks about their relationship and is reassured that she thinks of him as somewhat like a lost child she's chosen to guide. He zones out for a moment imagining her holding a small hand...

[1]

This morning, as people walk into the White Chalice Mess Hall for some grubs, they discover a strange sight.

Isaac Sinclair, the most aristocratic of the Dullahan commando team, with blood so blue you could paint a picture of the sky with it...is in a chef's apron, squeezing out fresh oranges with a wooden press that looks centuries old, and filtering the juice into some pitchers.

"What ho!" He declares to you if you approach. "Does your heart crave nutrition this fine dawn?"

[2]

Later, he can be seen in the Gym, trying to wrestle with 'his fellow practitioners in the arts of Powered Armor'–i.e. the Elementals.

Warn/watch?

Aside from a black eye and a bloody nose, the good doctor's no worse for wear physically. But she seems preoccupied, even more than mad scientists normally are. Even a little worried, shuffling her papers, muttering under her breath. "I should have known. It was too good to be true. And once she gets her body back she'll do her best to restart the war with the townies..."

She may run into you (an exchange, given her size, she's unlikely to get the better of) or simply not notice you at all. Even her Stalker birds are a little concerned, cocking their dead, wired and sensored heads.

[2]

White Chalice's latest batch of visitors are smaller than the usual. They're children between five and fifteen. Their clothes are dirty and while not starved, their small bodies show clear signs of a hard life. Without Uncle to direct their lives, the Lost Boys (and it soon comes out, a few Lost Girls; Uncle had been getting careless in his old age) are adrift. They can be found hunkered over plates in the cafeteria, literally growling at anyone who they think's going to come after 'their' food, ready to stab you with a fork. Stealing things with a professional's skill and a child's naivette about the perceptiveness of others. Staring in awe at the various mecha. Or just sprawled in the hallways like casualties, their little brains overwhelmed by their sudden change in circumstances.

[3: Locked to Kensuke, Kamille, Mira, Lily and other close CR]

Oenone's called you to talk about this over tea because you're one of the few people she trusts with this information. She leans forward to talk to you conspiratorially.

"I owe you an explanation. The Lost Boys kidnapped me because 'Uncle' used to be called Stilton Kael. He was Anna Fang's slavemaster in the gut of Arkhangel. He fell in love with her then, in a twisted way. He apparently never got over her, even when she was killed and turned into The Stalker Fang. I think you know where i'm going with this: they found her head. Uncle died with Grimsby but Fishcake got away with the head and all the repairs they made me make on her. He can finish them well enough that she'll be able to move around at least by himself.

We know from that note I received-" The threatening letter from a few months ago "-that there are still active Fang Loyalists within the Storm. If it comes out that she's still alive, she'll march right into HQ at Rogue's Roost and assume command and there won't be a thing General Naga or I can do about it. There will be a purge and before the bodies are cold the war with the Townies-" the Storm's derogatory slang for the inhabitants of the Predator Cities "-will engulf North America."

Doctor Zero's on the announcement system.

"I've just received a message from G-Green Storm Intelligence. We're p-passing near the predator city Panzerstadt-Weimar. All available machine should be on standby...especially the larger ones. Please don't sortie unless g-give the signal though. Thank you." She tells the ship, nervous stutter showing through.

And soon, there it is, rising out of the wastes of the midwest like a grim, metal mountain. It bristles with guns, from machine gun emplacements to massive snout-guns, with barrels the length of stadiums. It's armored too. Life on the inside must be quite dark. On its top, the primitive but tough mobile suits and spiky airships patrol. It dwarfs even the Chalice and its massive tracks make a noise like the end of the earth. This is one of the big Urbivores, a predator city in its natural hunting ground. And judging by the way the guns swivel to face the Chalice, it's surely thinking of you as potential competition or prey.

[OOC: The Chalice is a party to the truce between the Green Storm and Traktionstatdtsgesselschaft. Therefore anyone who attacks first will technically be violating that.]

[2: Locked to Kamille]

She could only hope that this wouldn't be too stupid a plan. The atmosphere of the Chalice was chaotic enough at least. If one were to pull off something this daring, now was the time.

"Agent Twite will come running down the hallway in a minute. When she asks you to help her move something from the storage room, you'll change clothes and identities with her."

[3]

The predator city didn't attack and is currently rumbling away. Perhaps it knew Zero was on board and didn't want to strain the fragile peace with the Green Storm. Perhaps its mayor had simply decided that the Chalice was not worth it.

[After the battle at Orsini Industries, a medical team quickly extracts Deva's pilot from her cockpit - a sickly-looking young girl, currently unconscious after pushing herself way too hard.]

"It's a myocardial infarction! Nitroglycerin, stat!"

[Even though her body is covered by a hospital gown, you can still notice some sort of Ghost in the Shell/Matrix style entry ports located on her limbs and other strategic locations. The medics are busy giving an injection straight into one of these ports as the whole team moves past and towards the Orsini Industries facilities.]

[Kamille was feeling fantastic today. Yes, the Chalice's standing with the feds dropped even further thanks to the fucking terrorist, but that was a drop in the water compared to what he was really excited about: The return of Cynthia Lane and Gainer Sanga from the clutches of the OverDevil. For once, he felt like things were going his way, and he intended to express this in a creative fashion.]

[When the Cafeteria is finally open again, it's decked out in full party mode, the bluenett Newtype pulling out all the stops in creating enough food to fuel the occasion. A rather obvious, if somewhat plain, banner hangs from the ceiling]

"WELCOME BACK, CYNTHIA AND GAINER"

[In all of this, Kamille finds himself lying on a bench that he dragged to a corner, the high of success finally washing over him as fatigue set in. Soul-crushing, Death-warmed-over, Why-am-I-still-awake fatigue.]

[Locked to anti-dummy plug group]

[While the festivities are in full swing, Kamille has sent you a message to meet him back in the same empty storage unit they met in last time. He has apparently already slipped out of the party himself at this point, using the excuse of finally turning in for the evening to get away while everyone was distracted. What could he want?]

[OOC: This is a mingle post to celebrate the return of Gainer and Cynthia. Kamille put a lot of effort into making this happen (which may or may not have involved dragging unwilling victims finding volunteers to help him do it), so you might have to seek him out to harass him for pushing himself too hard. AGAIN.]

[Of course, she's not asking anyone to so anything she wouldn't herself! How good a Cupid costume has she - or even you, maybe - managed in your case?]

Turning and turning in the widening gyre, Dr Zero's Stalker birds hear her. Their eyes were sharp in life, and in stalkerhood are even sharper, with little HUDs over their vision. They wing over the snow with slow flaps and the whirring of their machinery, looking over the desolation for the tread of the metal giants, human boots or snowshoes. Looking for Cynthia Lane, who she'd never have guessed would be a kidnapped maiden. But victimhood was never a personality flaw, she begins to realize.

[1B]

Back on the Chalice, she's in the hangar wearing a helmet which covers her head. Thick cords extend back into Shortening Of The Way. She moves her hands and whispers almost inaudible things, like some sybill in a holy trance.

[2]

Eventually she gives up too and tells the birds to return home, removes the helm. Her green hair is plastered to her head with its weight and her sweat. It's exhausting inhabiting the manic, snacksies oriented brain of a bird for any length of time. And they're moving west now, away from the boondocks of Siberia.

[3]

She goes to the kitchen to fix herself something that will pick her up. It's three twenty one, AM.

The good doctor is watching the holovision and hearing of skirmishes. Several of its more ambitious members have left the Traktionstadtgesselschaft. They're relatively small cities, hungry cities, not for bread but for achievement and power, and they're eating towns, mobile and static all over the Americas to get it.

Green Storm troops sortie to intercept them ASAP but she knows the difficulties in that, especially when they have to pass through the territory of other factions to get there. She imagines General Naga and Kriegsmarshal Von Kobold trying to keep their soldiers from popping off and ending the ceasefire by themselves.

Perhaps all isn't well after the treaty's signed.

[2]

To take her mind off it, Zero's moved to the kitchen instead and is preparing today's lunch, humming The East Is Green as she works: fettucine in a rich marinara, accompanied by garlic bread. Come in or wait for her to catch you in the cafeteria?

Doctor Zero is watching one of the holovisions, and looking both concerned and annoyed. She's squinting at it as if this were some trick of the light that will go away if she can just clear her vision.

On the holovis, a middle aged man with a large mustache and a pickelhaube is addressing the press, accompanied by several other men in equally ridiculous uniforms: the leaders of Destroit, Montrail, Hellywood, Armordillo, Boss-ton, Boltedmore, Arkhangel, Distrito Militar and our old friend, Mayor Quinn B. of Springwheeled, whose town seems to have been expanding itself, as has his gut.

"...and makes it necessary for freedom loving men to band togezher for ze purposes of forming associations of mutual defense. And so, today, my friends, I announce ze formation of ze Traktionstadsgesselschaft. Ve are dedicated to ze preservation of ze ideals of Municipal Darvinism, against ze depredations all who would keep us static, especially ze terrorists known as "Ze Green Storm"."

The speaker was immediately bombarded with questions, many asking if this formation was motivated by the recent death of The Stalker Fang, but Doctor Zero wasn't listening.

[2]

A piece of mail arrived, stamped with the simple authorization and plain letters of ordinary military correspondence. Oenone folded the letter open (even envelopes were reused in The Green Storm and it made monitoring the grunts' mail easier for Intelligence) expecting ordinary orders.

Instead, letters glued to the paper: YOU WILL PAY FOR KILLING HER ALEUTIAN WITCH YOUR LYING TONGUE WILL BE PULLED FROM YOUR MOUTH AND CUT OFF.

Her heart pounded against her ribcage as if it wanted to break free and go bouncing down the hallway and her eyes went wide with shock. But carefully, she began to refold the letter.

Someone had sent that from Rogue's Roost, and they had allies.

Now that White Chalice is flying over the ruined landscape of North America again, Doctor Zero senses some good to be done. Despite, or perhaps because of her killing The Stalker Fang (a fact which General Naga has committed an unknown number of brutal acts to suppress getting out, without her knowledge) she's still loyal to the Green Storm.

Here, perched on a rocky outcrop in the painted ochre of the Mojave Desert, where pebbles of glass that were once cities crunch under your feet, she's set up a little observation post with some equipment, her Stalkers, a high powered observation telescope, and some sandwiches and tea in a thermos. Most of her birds are wheeling around overhead nearby and she periodically dons a strange, helmet-like device to look through their eyes.

It's not strictly necessary though because what she's observing is visible to the naked eye: A larger traction city chasing a smaller one. Kicking up great plumes of dust in the distance, the behemoths wheel while their airships do battle in the skies above them. Soon the smaller city is herded towards some mountains, where it's trapped. The larger one release grappling hooks to hold its prey in place and the 'jaws' of the city are brought out, closing around it the smaller. The great metal teeth pierce floor plates that are meters deep. No doubt the snout gun of the larger city, trained on its prey, is enough to convince whoever's in charge that further resistance is a bad idea.

The scene should be a familiar one to anyone who's ever watched a nature documentary.

[1]

She speaks into a portable callbox.

"Fulfill The Vision Of The Wind Flower airbase, this is Chalice Death's Head. I am observing one large mobile city hunting another in the Mojave desert. Appears to be...Amadillo hunting RumbleTexas."

"Ryokai, Surgeon-Mechanic. Continue to observe but do not approach."

You don't have to tell her twice. She's content to remain there. But while the landscape is pretty in a desolate way, the work's monotonous.

[2]

Sometime after the newly fattened city has rumbled off, leaving behind the skeletal remains of its prey, and night spread its dark blanket, pricked by hundreds of small holes of light, Oeneone's watching the sky, leaning against the legs of one of the Stalkers.

She starts to doze off before too long.

[3]

The next morning, she awakes to find Chalice has left her behind and inwardly berates herself. She opens up a comm channel to the ship.

"Th-This is Doctor Oenone Zero. I'm very sorry about this but I d-dozed off. Can anyone come and p-pick me up? I'd ride on my Stalkers but i'm afraid of what that could do t-to the equipment. Thank you very much and i'm sorry again."

[Doctor Zero appears onscreen, somewhat nervous as usual, shuffling her feet in her too big labcoat and squinting at a piece of paper.] I have been asked t-to relay to you the following m-message from General Naga: "To anyone on White Chalice who wishes to become a friend of the Green Storm, we would be glad to host you at Rogue's Roost. I will meet you personally and...[Jesus General Naga, your handwriting was never good to begin with and the addition of several squiggly things that are probably crossed out words but could be tiny censor blocks or drawings of candy bars does it no favors.]...show you around. General Naga, Commander In Chief of the Green Storm."

[2: Action]

Oenone brings Shortening Of The Way down in front of a small home, nestled in the hills of the Aleutian Islands as White Chalice parks nearby. In the distance, Rogue's Roost looms in all its malevolent looking metal glory, a fractal protrusion that grows like lichen from the clifface.

The house is now being used as a piece in the Storm's wargames, a bit of simulated cover for shaky recruits to dive into while they're yelled at by gleefully malevolent sergeants. It's been stripped bare of everything but the most basic furniture. But when she closes her eyes and inhales the musty scent of memory...She sees the little desk in her room, where she'd bring home broken parts and pore over them for hours. The scent of her mother's cooking as she hummed some old tune. The way her scratchy old blanket made her nose itch when she pulled it up to her face on cold nights. The fireplace that would tempt her out of her room long enough to sit quietly in front of, stretching her small hands towards the warmth until it infused them, made them sting as blood reentered.

She sets three portraits on a table.

"Welcome home."

[1]

After the mission and the cleanup, the stresses of it felt as if they'd suddenly floated off of Oenone Zero's skin and dissipated. She lay sprawled against a tree trunk in the habitat, eyes closed, feeling the anemic sun, filtered through glass, play against her face. Her Stalker birds hopped and flew about too, seeming to sense their mistress's good mood.

She was alive. Stalker Fang was dead. Things were about to get a lot more OK from then on.

[2]

In her room, she knelt before a portrait of a young man in a Green Storm uniform, grinning wide, arm wrapped around a small, shy looking girl who nevertheless had a small smile of her own. She placed two incense sticks and a bowl of rice with the chopsticks sticking up out of them on the makeshift altar.

"Eno...she's dead, like I promised. Be at peace. I love you."

[After that weird gas attack and Gnocem assault, you might find Charles flitting about the ship in his IS. He's usually carrying Gnocem corpses here and there, forming a pile in one of the larger empty rooms. He's gathered quite the collection...and there's a good bit of blood on him, as well.

[Following a conversation with Werter, Doctor Zero can be seen in the hangar, absolutely dwarfed by her stalkers. Her spine's straight and she's trying to look intimidating but natural shyness is pretty much sabotaging that.]

I'll be b-brief.

Denizens of the Chalice, it's very imp-portant that you follow the exact dosage instructions when being given medication. This is especially true for the anti-nausea medic-cations i've been giving. There could be bad c-consequences if this is disobeyed. Thank you and goodbye. [She breaths out in relief, realizes the camera is still on with a start, turns it hurriedly off.]

[Action: Public, forwarddated to after they leave the atmosphere]

Doctor Zero's been seeing a lot of people lately with symptoms of space-sickness. Though her background as a surgeon-mechanic normally wouldn't cover this kindof thing, the low number of doctors on board has pressed her into it. For more mild cases, you get ginger tea (in a bulb, of course).

In This Cut: Druuuuuuugs )

[Private to Kensuke]

I hope you're feeling well on Earth. Taking a break from the Chalice was probably a smart decision. I'm sending a few things down to you via drop pod.

[Action]

Doctor Zero can be found with her birds, stroking them sadly, talking to them to keep herself on the level. Strange what war does, the insane behaviors demanded of you to stay on the narrow roof of sanity.

"I...t-tried to help her. But I c-can't save anyone. Not her or Eno."

Tears well up and overflow but she manages to fight back the kind of obvious snotty, sniffling, sobbing, full of hiccoughs, if only because she dares not open her mouth to speak. Later she can be found looking at Shouko's last medical chart.

[Message]

[This poem fragment appears in several places around the Chalice and once anonymously on the network. If you're very observant/persistent you might be able to catch her putting them out.]

Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,
Every poem an epitaph. And any action
Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat
Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:
See, they depart, and we go with them.

And all shall be well and
All manner of thing shall be well
When the tongues of flames are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the fire and the rose are one.
We are born with the dead:
See, they return, and bring us with them.
The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree
Are of equal duration.

[With the arrival of Dr. Zero and Tron onboard the Chalice... Josh's been mulling a few things over.  And after the last encounter with Dr. Saotome he's been looking over some files regarding various crazy scientists out there.]

... I hate to sound like a misandrist, especially since I'd be bashing my own gender, but what is with mad scientists usually being men?

You never see woman in lab coats and trying to create a race of atomic supermen in the name of world conquest or destruction or something.  It's always the guys who throw ethics out the window.

The good doctor can be found:

1: ...packing deliciously cool dry ice into containers. It's boiling up so much steam the hangar looks like an 80s music video. The New Kids On The Block, in denim vests and leather pants, could be just around any corner. Oenone certainly looks the part too, in her labcoat, thick gloves and safety goggles. Not that she, or the Caution: Dry Ice, do not handle bare handed sign, are easy to see amid said steam.

2: ...making something else that steams: green tea, in a massive clay kettle in the kitchen, for everyone's breakfast. It's a healthier alternative to the coffee the command staff chugs. Anyone who looks interested, she'll quietly ask if they want any and if so, if they want a monk fruit berry, stevia leaf or (shudder) sugar to sweeten it.

3: ...As usual, working on her stalkers or playing with her birds.

White Chalice, there are two things i'd like to submit to you for...No. I'm sorry, I need to be more assertive about this. [She clears her throat and begins reading off a sheet of paper.]

Th-The following safety standards are necessary to be followed by anyone using the hangar bays. These are n-not optional. [Her nervous stutter, as you can see, is starting to assert itself.] First, do not store objects on high shelves, especially heavy ones, unless they've been strapped or closed in place somehow. We've already had one broken bone b-because of this. Don't leave anything on wheels unsecured. Remember, this is a combat vessel and may have to make evasive maneuvers at any moment.
Any vehicles that you are not at that moment p-piloting must be secured with docking collars. Except in the case of an emergency launch, do not move at more than twelve kilometers per hour in exiting and broadcast that you're launching.

Alright, with that taken care of, i'd like to make a proposal. We have a number of children on board who in civilian life would hopefully be in school. I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to continue their education. Of course I wouldn't force any of them. However an education is important to one's future and I don't want any of them to miss out. I propose the formation of a volunteer school for them and for adults wishing to fill in gaps in their own education.
I am qualified to teach medical and many mechanical subjects, but i'll need other teachers and someone to act as the 'principal'.

[Private to Tron Bonne]

I realize we v-view each other as enemies. We're together on this ship though so we must make peace.

[1] Maybe it was just a leaning of the Chalice to the side on a turn, or maybe it was a little turbulence through the atmosphere. Either or, while Shirley was busy working on her striker, a wrench left alone on the scaffolding that was near one of the bigger super robots was bumped off.

What happened next was a shriek of pain.

[2] Shirley's in the infirmary now. Hairline fracture, nothing serious but it would put her into a cast for at least three weeks. She was really not pleased, but sick leave was sick leave.

[The voice is small, barely above a whisper. She's hoarse and exhausted from the battle.] Hello everyone. I am Doctor Oenone Zero, of the Green Storm ressurection corps. I want to give my most heartfelt thanks to everyone who just assisted me in the defense of the village of Seahaven and to the crew of this...landship for allowing me to stay here for a bit. I was cut off from any backup. If you hadn't shown up...I, I don't know what would've happened. That town woud have been demolished for materials to build Springwheeled even larger and its people made into slaves to work in the town's guts.

In case you've never seen one before, that was a Mobile City. Most of them survive by catching and "devouring" other mobile cities and static settlements. That was only a middling sized one, not one of the big urbivores, so if you hear of one in the area, be very careful.

My stalker squad is with me as well. Those are the five cyborg-creatures, each around eight feet tall. While they're fearsome in battle and they look rather scary, don't be scared of them. They can't move while they're switched off and even if they weren't, they need an operator to give them commands.

As a surgeon-mechanic of the ressurections corps, I am qualified to install, build and maintain any kind of prosthetic. If you should ever need that kind of help, please don't hesitate to contact me.

[Action:]

The woman who sent the distress signal is small and slight, with dyed green hair. She wears a worn uniform, with a green lightning bolt on one tricep and a grinning death's head with a cyborg eye on the other. You can find her one of several places on the chalice:

1: Right after the mission and transferring Wendell to someone who can help him, rather than merely stabilize his conditions, she stumbles out of her airship, exhausted, tears staining her cheeks. Battle doesn't agree with her, it seems. She'd thought she was dead several times over.

2: Reassuring her birds. Their feathers are mixed with the metallic and their gears whine and click when they move, but they hop and move like living birds and seem to respond to her attention, becoming visibly less agitated.

3: The next day, in the hangar bay, repairing her stalkers. Two of the mechanical men are badly smashed. Their innards show, a grotesque and Gigerian internal diorama of metal and long since mummified insides, commingled and connected. But as she connects one thing, screws something else back in, their eyes glow again, red like demons.
