1) Haman had arrive several days ago, but has kept to herself, and her team, since they came aboard the White Chalice. But tonight, you might see her strolling around the ship, quiet but observantly watching the festivities. She is carrying an unmarked box in her arms, and even here and there, and takes out a sprig of mistletoe and hangs it up in doorways, and lounges. Even on some people's quarter's door. In the hanger, she hangs them from some mechs, in  the medical ward, and even on the bridge. There is mistletoe everywhere...
Find out Who she is, and what shes up to

1. (Locked to roommates, easily hackable)

[Laura's been laid up in her bunk for most of the day recovering from the strain of the battle the evening before. It's well in to the afternoon that she begins to stir. Who's around when she does?]

2.

"All right - where should I start?"

[Laura's in the hangar, looking businesslike in overalls (sleeves rolled up) with her hair tied back, looking around at the damaged mechs. She looks every bit the part of the eager grease monkey ready to get elbow-deep in machinery... except that she also looks like she might fall asleep atop said machinery mid-repair.]

[Oh, Chrono is not in a good mood. His allies were shot down, he's gotten pretty beaten up himself, and - worst of all! - he missed the shot at Gato. He's really not happy with himself. A distant corner of his mind laughs at him for having told off Forte from just this position a short while ago. As such, he's walking about and fuming.]

I can't believe he got away...! And with nuclear weapons, no less! I mean, Earth is already so damaged from Second Impact... what's the point in blowing it up further?

[2]
[Chrono's up on the Asura, reviewing the parts requests from Raising Heart and Bardiche and mentally checking off everything, until...]

CVK-792... what's that part? And why don't we have any? [A quick cross-reference later, and Chrono pales.] Oh no. They're not serious, are they...? [A hollow laugh.] Of course they are. It's those two, even their devices work too hard. The Belkan Cartridge System... I hope they can handle it. [A camera feed on the screen displays the devices in question, nearly shattered, floating in a repair area until the needed parts are secured.] I'd better get these requested from Cranagan, the main office is a long way out, even with dimensional travel.

Who: Misato and anyone else who wants to go drinking! Or eating. Or bothering Feddies.
What: Celebrating before this game turns angsty again
When: Happy hour, December 13 (pre-mission)
Where: A bar in Freetown
Why: I decided to make a separate post to pad out my activity make things clearer. Thread freely with each other, this is an open post.

It was 5 o'clock somewhere about an hour ago, and the birthday girl (five days belated) is already happily buzzed as she waves good-bye to the genial Russian fellow she'd been matching shots with until he said he had to go to work. Around her is the comfortably distant congeniality of a bar full of relatively happy people at the start of the holiday season. She sits back, tips back another drink, and waves at the next person she recognizes coming in the door. Or doesn't recognize.

Alright! It was an arduous task, but Pen-Pen and I have completed taking on NERV's complement of supplies at this port.

[People investigating the hold after this will find cases upon cases upon cases of cheap beer, all slapped with NERV requisition labels bearing Misato's signature. And also a single crate of electronic parts with similar labels and a stamped serial number starting with EVA04ORIGBETHA]

Now, I was too busy to announce this earlier, but last Thursday was my birthday, and now that we're officially in port, I think it's time to celebrate. Who wants to go find out what kind of bars Freetown has?

[The music hasn't quite become maddening yet, but Laura's pretty easily overwhelmed by too much going on around her, so she's come to a relatively quiet corner of the arboretum to escape it for a little while. Not only that - having established by exploring the arboretum on her daily walks that no one else seems to come by this spot much, she's chosen it as the best place to plant a small flower she picked up at Fairy Park.]

It's not much of a memorial... but I can do this much at least.

I'll be giving a brief overview of how Midchildan magic and Devices work on the deck in 15 minutes. Anyone interested in learning how to use a Device, come on up - I'll have a stack of basic Devices you can try out.

[2 - Action]

[Sure enough, in 15 minutes Chrono can be found on the deck of the White Chalice with a stack of basic Devices, which will happily change into a staff form for anyone that wants to try, Fate having already shown up to help; he'll wait a bit for people to show before launching into a basic explanation.]

Some basics before we start: Midchildan magic is powered by the user's Linker Core. Everyone has a Linker Core, but some people have stronger Linker Cores than others, and like a muscle, it grows stronger with use and practice. Devices are designed to help channel the output from a mage's Linker Core, and give form to spells. As for how to use it... [He draws a training Device.] Set Up! [The staff extends to be about as tall as Chrono, with an obvious fancy end that probably does something special.] Now I can cast spells through this. A lot of Midchildan magic is trusting your instincts; you might be able to cast a spell or two just by feeling. I can help beyond that.

[Anyone willing to try their hand at magic?]]

[After that battle against Starscream, Optimus Prime (and presumedly Bulkhead) have boarded the White Chalice. The following is a video broadcast made by a twenty foot tall red and blue robot currently standing in a disused corner of the hangar.]

Greetings, Humans of the White Chalice, I am Optimus Prime and I speak for the Autobot forces currently active on Earth. As some of you may know, I have in my possession an artifact known as the AllSpark. It's power, if misused could potentially destroy all life on this planet. I thought it was safely hidden, but...well, this clearly isn't the case anymore. Right now I think keeping it mobile is our best bet. To that end, I would like to keep the AllSpark on your ship. In return, my subordinant Bulkhead and I shall help you in any way we can. I would have preferred not to get humans involved in this battle, you seem to have enough trouble as it is, but at this point I think it's too late for that.

I hope we can all get along. All I request is a safe place for the AllSpark and somewhere for us to live. I realize that last one might be a problem, considering how much larger we are, but I'm sure something can be arranged.

EDIT: Also I found this Key stuck into my chest after the battle. I can't touch it without feeling all weird and tingly, so maybe a human should hold on to it for now.

[ Char seems to be writing another letter, this one by hand. This one is addressed to... yeah. You guessed it. ]

Dearest Haman,

I hope this letter finds you well. I want to say first and foremost that I do not want you to worry about me, though I'm sure 'worried' isn't the correct word to describe your current state of mind regarding me. It is likely that you already know where I am, and what I have been up to recently. It is for that reason that I believe sending you this letter is paramount and necessary.

I know I am in no position to ask any favor of you whatsoever, however, I believe it is necessary to ask that you please do not take any action regarding the Titans. I know that is bold of me, but I want you to know that the White Chalice will deal with them when the time comes. Zeon involvement with the resistance movement would serve only to discredit their current progress, and would place the colonists in further danger.

Second, I want you to know that the White Chalice are not your enemies. There are good people onboard this ship, and they are not affiliated with the Federation in any way. In fact, at this point, I believe it would not be entirely inaccurate to call them enemies of the Federation, due to their opposition to the Titans. While there are ex-Federation soldiers onboard this ship, they abhor the current treatment of the colonists, and are working to help them as I write this.

Third, I want you to know that I do not consider myself an enemy of Zeon. I will always believe in the ideals of Zeon Zum Deikun, and I will always believe in the idea of a free and independent nation of Spacenoids. While my reasons for leaving Axis are my own, I do not want you to think of me as an enemy of Spacenoids. I believe Her Majesty Mineva Zabi will be a great ruler one day, and it is my wish to see her become a strong and benevolent figure that Spacenoids of all walks of life can look up to and admire.

I know that you know why I left Axis, Haman. I know you understand that while I will always care about you and wish you only the best, that I must, in time, bring myself to forgive you for what you did to Natalie. I know that, in your heart, you know that what you did was wrong. I hope that someday I can forgive you, and that perhaps, we can work together again to build a safe place for Spacenoids to live in freedom.

All I ask is that you do not harm the people of the White Chalice or intervene in the conflict with the Titans in any way. I have the situation under control, and that, while I may not have forgiven you for your betrayal of Natalie, I would not lie to you. Please try to understand my reasons for asking this of you.

Yours,
Char.

[ Satisfied, Char leaves it on the table, and stares down at the piece of paper with his chin resting in his palm. Feel free to sneak a read over his shoulder; he's pretty distracted. ]

Since he had boarded the White Chalice, Yuunagi had been particularly focused on repairing the damage dealt to the Straybird. To anyone that passed by and glanced his way, he seemed to be in a rush.

Fortunately for him, the parts from the Graife residence brought onto the White Chalice by Ichitaka were sufficient to complete the repairs.

"The sooner I'm done here, the sooner I can leave" would be his answer to those who might have decided to ask why he was being so hasty.

Despite his talk with Ichitaka, Yuunagi was still adamant on continuing his search for their grandfather, alone.

Bother him? Convince him otherwise?

1. [Soon after the survivors get picked up by White Chalice, Frank is running a short ceremony on the ship's deck - it's not technically a funeral, but it's close. The whole thing was announced beforehand, giving everyone who wants to attend time to prepare.]

The L-Boat operation was a success, but it came at a great cost. Many brave young men and women lost their lives fighting off the Festum attacks.

Their sacrifice shall not be forgotten! Their efforts saved many lives and have shown us that even an enemy thought to be unstoppable can be defeated! We shall fight on with their memories in our minds.

Everyone, salute!

[In addition to the normal salute, a rifle party fires three volleys into the sea. It consists not just of soldiers on foot, but possibly mecha as well.]

2. [After the ceremony, when Frank is off-duty, he can be found drinking alone at a table in the kitchen. He does so quietly, unless approached by someone. Maybe that's you?]

[It takes mechanics to get the Mark Zwei open when it's brought back onboard the Tatsumiya Island sub.  The sight inside is both beautiful and horrifying; with so much of Ryo's covered in strange green crystals.  The Mark Zwei didn't stop the assimilation process, just drastically delay it.]

... I was a dead man even before I got in the Mark Zwei one last time.  And... I wanted to make these last moments, the most important of my life.

Everyone... thank you.  The L-Boat... Tatsumiya Island... we would not have survived if not for you...

[At any rate, he's moments from death.  If you have something to say, for the love of God this is your last chance.]

[2]

[And then it happens.  Maybe he was in the middle of talking with you, reassuring you that things were going to be alright or maybe you'd already made your peace with him.  But the crystals shatter, leaving nothing more than a fine dust.  And Ryo Masaoka is finally no more.]

[For anyone who decides to pay a visit to The Wall, you'll find that the entire length of it's been repainted over, and then in massive letting, absolute defeatest talk.]

We are all going to die here.  Every one of us.

[And not only that, there's Ryo, having grabbed another TSX pilot by the collar and... well for the first time ever, anyone present can see Ryo look furious.]

Why do something like this?  Hope of success is one of the things that's keeping this operation from being a failure!  We're halfway through the operation, and aside from that last attack-

That's rich coming from you, Ryo!  We're risking out live day in and day out!  And you're one to talk... you're the one using that new Fafner model... you know, the one who ISN'T going to kill you after only a short time of usage!  Besides, you ran away from the Island while the rest of us trained

You make it sound like I was just fooling around all day!  I was risking my life too to gather data on the TSX's performance!  The only reason those machines are working as well as they are is because I nearly killed myself using one!

Yeah, you did!  And you did it to get out of using one NOW, by picking and choosing when to fight!  Hiroshi's dead and Sumiko's in the hospital, just lying there!  The doctors can't do anything for them... but oh, your little friends from the Chalice; THEY'RE the ones that can be patched up good as new!  But it doesn't matter at all... you know why?  Because WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE-

[The pilot never finishes.  Abruptly, Ryo's fist comes crashing down into his face, all of his strength and weight put into it.  For one with such a sickly body, it's surprising that the blow completely floors the TSX pilot... but that's exactly what happened.  A moment later and Ryo himself falls to his knees, panting heavily as he glares at the fallen pilot.]

... This mission... it's going to be a success!  I never doubted that when I agreed to it!  We've fought tooth and nail and the people who are injured or who have damaged mechs can recover while others take up the slack!  Think about it for a moment...!  For a week, a whole week we've been fighting Festum!  And for that week we haven't been defeated... we're still here!  With no backup and no aid we've held our own against them!

That's reason enough to believe we'll make it home!

[Several hours had passed since the last Festum attack, Ichitaka had drifted in and out of critical condition. Being right next to his systems when they had exploded he was far from doing well when he was first brought into the infirmary. Suffering several burns, cuts, shrapnel embedded in him from the explosion, and a concussion.

Thankfully the medics on the L-Boat were some of the best within a few hours he seemed to have stabilized ,the Doctors sending him to another room to let him rest. Waking up next to coma patients wouldn't exactly be a good sight for someone who was just injured.

He wakes up in the middle of the night slightly confused.]

[Misato is, of course, doing her part aboard the L-Boat. She might not be a pilot, but she did have her reasons for turning down a "vacation" back in "Japan".]

[That's why you can find her in conference with the Alvis officers fairly constantly, consulting on, and occasionally arguing over, tactical minutiae about how the Fafner prototypes and White Chalice volunteers are deployed, the schedule, the capabilities of the Festum, and in general everything else of combat importance on the L-Boat, including standing in the background giving advice during skirmishes.]

[She also drinks coffee like she normally downs beer.]

[That said, she takes every opportunity when she's not sleeping or "consulting" to relax, and look out at the ocean, unwinding from her behind-the-scenes work and, with the same calm and focused expression, watching those skirmishes that happen when equally overstressed Alvis officers occasionally kick her out of the conn.]

[Feel free to bother her during any of this.]

[[MarKus is cannibalizing the newly unmanned TSX model, breaking it down into spare parts. This and that he sets aside for Shirley, but most of the others, larger parts, are set aside and organized for compatibility with others. ]]

10:32 pm

[[MarKus starts working on Shirley's striker, even if she isn't around to consult.]]

1:11 am (Tuesday)

[[MarKus starts attaching two extra TSX arms to Imber's Pauldrons of Epic Rock Punching. Extra reach for the mecha that doesn't have any guns.

4:33 am
[[MarKus enjoys a sandwich while he directs a plan. Most of the mechanics about are cool with it, setting up spare Ruge Lances and guns about the deck, covered by plating. The other pilots won't know about it at least.

One mechanic mouths off, which he is promptly introduced to the hand MarKus is holding his sandwich. Now's he's double pissed.

8:01 am
[[MarKus finds it a good idea to start painting bands on ALL of the mecha onboard. Mostly in a color that stands out on the standard paint job. One band for each day. No, he didn't ask permission for this.]]

11:43 am

[[Again, without permission, MarKus continues his painting binge. Ryo's Mark Zwei is not a metallic orange. No, this wasn't ironic to being similar to the Festum, but to stand him out as the Ace. He is the reason they're all on this ship anyway.

2:44 pm
[[MarKus is logically MIA. The Technica is out fighting though. When it comes back...]]

3:34 pm
[[MarKus is back, and he's got it in his head to try and link up a Ruge Lance to the Type-T's systems. In the process he smashes his fingers with a wrench.]]

4:03 pm

[[MarKus is in the infirmary getting bandaged. He suddenly got the "genius" idea to blare music in there, juxtaposed to our comatose little friend there.

It's not waking him up at all.]]

5:38 pm
[[MarKus instructs an update of all the mecha's armbands. He's apparently got some serious props amongst the mechanics there.]]

6:42 pm
[[MarKus oggles Unit 04's massive... massiveness, while enjoying a sammich. He orders the Behemoth and all LUPUSes to be fully loaded.]]

No fucker. LOAD IT! Every fucking unit loaded, and if you can put one in the chamber you put ONE IN THE CHAMBER! [[It's almost time for another Rider Punch!... But the guy gets away without being decked.]]

7:21 pm

[[MarKus drags ass and gets to tuning Shirley's Striker again...]]

8:07 pm
[[MarKus proceeds to give the Strike Unit a fresh coat of DROOL. He's apparently passed out leaning over on it.]]

((Pick your time and tag. Hopefully ALL OVER the place the tags will come from! Songs are distinctly what he's playing on his stereo at the time associated. That's not saying that he's not playing other music the entirety of his 36 hours of hard work.))

Back-dated to before the mission.

[ Ahh, Neo America, fuck yeah. Freedom was the only way, or so many colonies had thought during the One Year War. Char had left a small, handwritten note on Asuka's bedside table that morning, laying out what time he was going to be at one of the fanciest restaurants on the colony, which was so high-end that it had bought the rights to the partially destroyed arm of the GF13-006NA Gundam Maxter, which came off during Gundam Fights' preliminary matches. Supposedly, Chibodee Crocket was the second victim of Neo Japan's rising star, Domon Kasshu, but Kasshu had shown Chibodee mercy, and refused to destroy him before the finals. Before the Maxter was repaired, this restaurant was given the arm that was knocked off by the Shining Gundam. And sure enough, there it was, complete with an autograph from Crocket on the fist, which was melted back together and propped up, so that it looked like it was coming right at you.

Char, being the wealthy, deposed prince that he was, had rented out practically the entire VIP section, and left a description of his date at the door. Clad in a red blazer with a golden Zeon emblem brooch on the left breast pocket, Char waited patiently for her, positive that she wouldn't stand him up. She was a minor, though, so he wasn't going to be buying her any booze. Neo America did still have a 21 drinking age, after all. Asuka could blame the fact that they refused to join the Principality of Zeon for that. ]
