Once again, Gucun's future has been saved... this time though...

[It hit closer to home... after all... it was a close friend that had betrayed him.]

Wang Ding Bang. There were few who could have matched your dedication to Gucun. You will be remembered. I promise this.

[Of Han Zhi he says nothing... whatever thoughts he has of the man who betrayed him remain his own.]

...

With the insurgency taken care of and the information of Han Zhi's actions spreading across Gucun, Devon and I will be leaving the Chalice... though I do not doubt she has already said that much already.

We have a difficult road ahead of us. But we will not forget our friends. Even if the rest of the world turns against you, the Chalice will always find a safe haven in Gucun.

[There was a wry smile on his face.]

You had granted my family the same after all...

My friends...

[He salutes. He didn't have to... but he wanted to. Those who remember Frank would know why.]

I wish you the best of luck.

1) [Close CR only]

[So it seems that Cheng's split second decision to save Wang Ding Bang and choice to the inclusion of the Thaumata remnants into his forces has paid off greatly. he was looking over the information the Loyalists had provided. The details of the base itself looked most grim indeed. The construction for it began well before the first civil war before Gucun was rent asunder - but the plans for it had been ceased as discontent stirred in the state. Han Zhi had managed to snatch the facility up for his own usage behind Cheng's back... much of the original plans were completely out of date, and there was just barely enough information to work off to figure out where the data that would completely collapse Han Zhi's support structure around his ears.]

And to make matters worse the Vampire has decided to return to mock us all once again...

[He takes a sharp breath and shuts his eyes... a two front battle... with one force going into the fortress to retrieve the data, going up against practically anything that could have been looted from the old caches ... and the other caught between Han Zhi's forces as well as that of Nicolai's hordes. He actually chuckles as he regards all the information... placing it down at the desk.]

We have faced worse odds...

[Interrupt the Chairman General's musings?]

2)

[Cheng seems to be pondering something on a piece of paper... with the battle coming soon he figured he should have a speech prepared...something to rouse people to victory... but...]

[He just glares at the paper, crushing it and tossing it aside with a look of disgust. If one picks it up and reads it...]

'Everyone. My friends and comrades. My countrymen, my allies

It is time to take the battle to our foes. Not just Han Zhi, whose manipulations and lies will lead Gucun to another inevitable collapse - but the inhuman forces of the vampire Nicolai - who was responsible for countless deaths... the devastation of Jiang Jing city.

They cannot run nor hide. They believe their secrets are safe, that their fortresses are unbreakable. They believe themselves to be an unbeatable force - both of them. They believe they have power. They believe they have the advantage.

And they are wrong on all accounts. We have the knowledge we need to fell them both.

No fortress is invincible. All gates can crumble. All walls can shatter. An army of ravening beasts and men manipulated into control stand no chance against those who fight for a cause. For something to believe in.

We have the power to grind their armies into the dust. Not just in ourselves, but in the comrades who stand by our side - our brothers and sisters in arms. We have brotherhood. Solidiarity. Trust. We have the might of our convictions - a force that turns the weak into the mighty - that drives armies onwards to victory.

Everyone!

Fight well! Fight on until we see the light of day! When the sun is upon us once more the heavens themselves will shake with our victory cry!

To victory!
'

[He rests his fists on the table, a grimace on his face.]

I... am not like that madman...

[Given the speech made by one Red Comet... clearly anything remotely similar....]

3) [Broadcast/General Reaction Post.]

[A broadcast rings out... across the Chalice and to Cheng's supporters - however few there are. Cheng's face is set in a look of determination.]

I won't waste time on speeches. We're taking Gucun back. We're bringing Nicolai's fortress down on his head.

I will see you all after the battle. Don't die. Not to either of our enemies.

[Cheng was looking up at the machine that was replacing the Fu Xi. It was... nothing special at all really.]

Hm...

[The Chairman General was looking over the message he recieved with it. Apparently it was one of the few machines his loyalists managed to procure - and given what happened to the Fu Xi, did their best to get it to him right away.]

And now it comes full circle....

[The Zilong Combat Frame now taking up residence in the hangar was nothing more than a mass produced machine with a SpecPack meant for field commanders. No modifications, no improvements in the design... Cheng was apparently back to basics.]

[Do you have anything to say to him?]

[Unlike Devon's own initial reaction... Cheng is more subdued and solemn. What had happened today had proven that he really was no leader at all. No words of rage. No denials. No excuses.]

So... this was the final result in the end.

[He's merely seated somewhere in the Hangar, close by to the Fu Xi as he regards his helmet with a downright tired expression.]

[2] [Locked to CR only.]

I'm sorry...

"But.... why? Why can't we go home?! And why can't we stay with you and mom?!"

"Father..."

[Cheng's children did not take what little news that could be given to them that well. After all... finding out that you couldn't go back home... any child would be unhappy.]

Its so you can be safe... do-

[Nuan Chun rushes at Cheng's leg, pummelling it with her fists, sobbing all the while.]

"NO!  I don't want to travel the world anymore! I don't want to stay on a ship all the time! I want to go home!!... I... I HATE YOU!"

"Mei mei!"

[Xue Yi's quickly pulling her little sister into a hug, giving her father a worried look.]

"She.. .she doesn't mean it father....  she... she just..."

Its alright... I know... Look after your sister. The people here will keep you safe.

"Yes father..."

[Cheng turns around and leaves the room. Never once did he say anything to his eldest Daughter - who was crying as well... the moment the door closes... he slams his fist into the wall facing the door.]

Damn it...

[To be forced away from their home like this... he never wanted his children to feel what he did.]

[3]

[Cheng regards a camera with a stern face. He honestly doesn't know if this would make anything better... but it has to be done. Something NEEDS to be done.]

Loyal Soldiers of Gucun. Friends. Everyone.

Despite the blow that has been dealt, Han Zhi's command over Gucun will be short lived. While he has the loyalty of the people for now, they will slowly begin to realize that his rule will be no better than that of Jun Wei's.

I ask that you remain strong and prepare. To the brave men and women still in Gucun who have not abandoned me, thank you... I ask that you maintain vigil over the state, to protect it from itself as best as you can and ferret out Han Zhi's secrets.

To those who have been forced from the homeland, and to those who have joined us... I ask that you fight alongside the members of Bian Zoldark's alliance. To hone your skills and prepare of the day we can return to Gucun with pride - as liberators from a despot's rule - to prevent another civil war that would tear our homeland apart.

To my allies. I thank you greatly for all that you have done, and humbly ask once more for your assistance. When the time is right. Please help me save my home once more.

Thank you... all of you.

[Cheng bows his head as the camera clicks off.]

Damn it all.

[Despite the choice of icon, Devon is not in her Sophium armor. And that's the only reason the corridor wall she keeps punching is not dented yet - or worse. Instead, her fists look badly battered and at this rate she's going to break something.]

The worst scenario turned out to be true. In the end Han Zhi played everyone like fools... everyone. I had no business running a country! I am a warrior. That was a huge mistake.

Fuck.

[2]
[Devon is composed, but she looks tired and depressed as shit when she gives this announcement.]

Han Zhi's rise to power was not legitimate - he usurped it through force. The official State of Gucun government does not recognize him as a leader and will continue to operate from aboard the White Chalice.

[She sighs and adds something privately. The following is locked only to close friends.]

Also, my daughters have been moved to ReHome. This is for safety, in case White Chalice - or my family, becomes the target of an attack. Lowe Gear's crew made sure they are treated well so if you want to visit them, you know where to go.

[Wang Ding Bang has been apprehended... but things have gone from bad to worse. The so-called traitor was't one at all. Wang Ding Bang... was innocent. The man had been beaten and dragged along by Qiang and other insurgents that had left Gucun to draw attention onto themselves...]

To get us away from Gucun....

[Qiang himself didn't seem to be leader material as well. Rather a man who's example is followed by his men - but lacked true leadership ability - another person to throw off suspicion. And then there was Jia Wu. He gave direct orders to bring Wang back alive. Yet she had pulled the trigger with the intent to kill... Gucun soldiers - especially an elite squad leader like her would have had more discipline....]

[Cheng was pacing back and forth. The moment his information was verified Wang was already headed back to Gucun in secret. He made something of a show of having him under guard in the Chalice - but the moment he was sure he could get away with it - he sent him back with a pair of the Thaumata recruits he inducted. Funny. For all the wrongs people seem to believe he had commited, it seems to have paid off here... there is no telling who he could trust aside from a select few... and if anything he needed Wang's eyes in Gucun.]

Everything is escalating further...

[2]

[Cheng is alone once more, digging through every single one of the reports than Han Zhi had sent previously. Every single one of them was positive. No sign of insurgent activity in the State...]

[His scowl deepened, every report he reread he soon flung away. His suspicions were growing. There was no way for ALL of the insurgents to have left Gucun. It would defeat their purpose of trying to wrest it from hmself and Devon...]

[He took the last report he was reading.... then tore it in half...]

[And he could do nothing to prevent it. Instead all he could do was inform Han Zhi that he was going to be gone a little longer - if only to deal with a few more criminals against the State.]

We need more. We need something to give us an edge. We need something to prevent this from ever happening again....

[Being close to Arkham did not help things at all. Not this time. A new solution would be needed. And Cheng is frustrated beyond measure trying to hammer something out.]

We need to talk. Now. Whatever else you're doing is unimportant.

[Cheng's voice was more or less ice. It seems whatever goodwill and camraderie he felt towards you was all but nonexistent here.]

So I suggest you pay close attention to what I have to say.

[3]

[Xue Yi and Nuan Chun were...avoiding their father for a lack of better term. He just looked so angry, so utterly hateful that he scared them. This caused another round of frustration and worry all around as he collapsed onto a chair and held his head.]

Perhaps Han Zhi would make a better Chairman General than I.

The Mobile Doll system is in our hands. New information from the state... this day will be... interesting...

[A way to deal with the Festum, possibly other Alien menaces that may have similar abilities. Cheng approves without a doubt. And to add to this he's looking at some schematics to boot - one that is awaiting his perusal and approval for production.]

The Mengde Cruiser... hm... an ambitious name.

[With the Federation looking to replace their old junk with new ship designs, the out of date Salamis had to go somewhere. This design was... to put it bluntly, what happens when you weld two Salamis together by their top halves and relocate the bridge. The 'mated' ships were refitted with several internal sections redesigned... but overall the structure of the ships remained the same. Large amounts of projectile and missile weaponry was in use in the design - though there was an alternate lay out that mounted at least three beam cannons.]

[Hangar space for a squad of up to eight Combat Frames/Prominence Armors...]

[Gucun didn't have a dedicated space force yet unlike the Federation and the Divine Crusaders. This design would be a good step so they wouldn't need to Piggy-back on allies or use outdated designs.]

[Cheng shook his head at some of the other redesigns of aged ships... this was the only promising one really. A shame.]

2)

[It seems that a number of the surviving Thaumata Pilots that had survived the battle at the DSSD station have went missing. The man responsible? None other than the Chairman General of Gucun - Hua Cheng Kwan himself. It would seem that he has recruited them and had those willing to work with him split into three groups - one to return to the State along with a few members of his Original Bodyguard detatchment, another to a small group of Gucun troops posted in space to help them in training in an unfamiliar environment... and the last and least numerous to take up rank for the casualties from the Giga-Float a long while back - There was little time to get additional replacements from Gucun after all...]

... I assume you have words for me?

[Cheng looks... stern to say the least. He figures that the moment someone found out about this questionable, if not... reprehensible action - they'd chew him out. But either way he's going to explain his reasons and stay firm on his decision.]

I need you to distract Xue Yi and Nuan Chun for a while. Something, anything interesting that won't scar or endanger them. Its only for an hour at most, I need to prepare.

[Prepare? Prepare for what?]

2) [Much later after Prompt 1]

-Translated from Chinese- "Come foul beast! Meet your doom! 18 Pillars of the Grand Temple Style - Wrath of the Five Kings!"

[And for those of you who didn't ask, now you know. Cheng was apparently preparing for a 'TV' night. Several recordings of what appears to be a Hilariously Over the top, cheesily written Wuxia-with-guns series have been prepared. And Cheng's daughters were just locked to the screen. Nuan Chun cheering loudly as the monster of the day along with its mooks were beaten up, Thrown around, bombarded with daggers, cut into multiple pieces and then hit with an Alpha Strike before it exploded in a truly spectacular fashion.]

"YAY! GO CHAMPION GANG!"

"Sister... Champion Gang always wins. He's the hero."

"But Xue Yiii..."

[Cheng just shakes his head and smiles, popping a bit of chocolate into his mouth as Champion Gang rejoins his friends - they patch their wounds and travel onwards to the holy temple - through endless trials and dangers to recover the knowledge from an age long past to save their homeland from those that sought to prey upon it.]

Champion Gang doesn't always win you know, remember when the Lady Dragon stole his will to fight and left him a coward? His friends were the one who won that battle.

"
See! We still have to cheer on for Champion Gang and his friends! That way they win!"

"Um..."

[Nuan Chun thinks cheering for heroes on the screen actually works... of course given that 'The Journeys of Brother Ji' were highly optimistic, there was no reason to think otherwise... Xue Yi knew better though. Cheng didn't say anything at all... do you have anything to say about this moment?]

3) [Long after Prompt 2]

[The Children were asleep on the couch, a blanket pulled over them. Both sisters clutching at the Pig Mascot Doll that Laura gifted to both of them. Cheng carefully turns off the TV and dims the lights.]

[Cheng has a small smile on his face as he lightly ruffles the hair of his eldest daughter and kisses the forehead of his youngest.]

[As he moves away and sits outside he looks a little relieved.]

That... went far better than I expected... I was worried that the show would make them more homesick.

There is a furor of activities in the hangars as Clan Wolf mechs and Elementals (most of Ranna's Trinary, in fact) transfer onto the large dropship docked to the White Chalice. This does not appear to be the usual periodic supply run.

Speaking with any of the Clanners, warriors or not, will let you know that they are going back to Wolf City in Siberia for several days to witness a Trial of some sort. Regardless of whether you had received Ranna's invitation, they will extend it again.

A trip to Wolf City!

Several flights are scheduled, so one need not worry about missing a dropship there or back.

(1)

The flight there was uneventful, except perhaps for the fact that the dropship shot up out of atmosphere first, before descending straight down over Siberia to the city, giving one a good view of Earth and a glimpse of Wolf warships in orbit.

Wolf City itself seems quite utilitarian in its layout, the spaceport that the dropship landed in was dead center of the city, and many buildings appear similar in design. However, there is a strong and sleek style to their architecture which is more than just utilitarian and distinctive enough that it is clearly a city unlike any others on Earth. You also see a larger and more monumental structure near the spaceport – the Clan Hall.

A middle-height young man wearing Clan Wolf’s dress uniform greets the group as they leave the dropship. Unlike Ranna’s and Resnick’s rank insignia of two small red stars, his has a single large star.

“I bid you welcome to Wolf City,” he pauses at that with a smile, as if knowing how bland it was. “I am Phelan Kell, Khan of Clan Wolf. It is an honor to finally meet you. Star Captain Ranna spoke often and highly of the White Chalice.”

(2)
Lodging has been provided at the Visitor Center near the spaceport. At a glimpse, the nearest parts of the city are:

Commercial District – this is where you find the most non-Clanners doing trading. The most striking thing you notice is that there is no ‘currency exchange’, and most shops and stores accept all currency and goods for trade. Furthermore, they seem to value the goods more, as they will ask for more currency comparatively.

Residential Zones – making up most of the city, the zones appear to be designed similarly.

Feel free to explore!

(3)
The next day you are invited by Ranna to the Clan Hall. The building is strangely grand compared to the rest of the city, and there are Elementals acting as guards. She leads you to a rather comfortable room. Multiple smaller holovid screens have been setup in addition to the main screen.

It shows a large chamber with circular seating arrangement. Close to twenty people are present, and after a short speech introducing the leader of the ‘Kerensky Bloodhouse’ – each person present takes turn naming a candidate for a ‘Trial of Bloodright’. Ranna seems strangely intent as she watches the proceedings.

After each of them has nominated a name, the leader nominates a list of names, ending with “And the last nomination is Ranna, whose claim to the bloodheritage comes from Natasha Kerensky.”

In total, you count 31 nominations.

(4)
Immediately after that, the view changes to the outskirts of the city – a snow landscape dotted with some forestry. There is not much wind at the moment, so the view is clear. Icons popped up on the screen, and you can see names of the mech and pilot attached to each icon. The icons are scattered about, and you count about thirty.

The various smaller screens can be adjusted to provide different views of the area, or to track a single mech.

“Commence,” came the voice over the screen, and the mechs leap into action.

Clearly this is no simulation, and the weapons are not powered down as missiles arc over terrain, lasers burn molten trails into armor and autocannon rounds leave craters in the snow when they miss. Nobody seems to be taking sides as the free for all rages on.

What is going on here?

((OOC: the trials will be in a later post, as this is long enough. Assume that the dropships will shuttle you back and forth on request, so feel free to come along!))

"Can we listen to it a little longer? Please?"

[On the observation deck, Cheng is taking in the view with tired eyes. For a good long while... the Chalice was home. He didn't know if he would ever return here - take it how you will. This battle would decide the fate of Gucun. A battle that had begun some time ago - its final battle now approaching. He whispers a prayer - to his ancestors, to his family... to friends fallen. There was a small and sad smile as he wished dearly that there were some friends still alive today to help him carry victory through this battle.]

[There was a look of contemplation on his face as he watched the stars.]

[Out of everyone who went to stop Raal Rovdy and the Death God Zs-a Wia Cheng had managed to get out of the battle the lightest, Despite the level of damage the YMIR took, the Jotunn's state meant it wouldn't be long before he was combat effective again. Which was why Cheng was going to spend the next three days as effectively as he could. Among the things he did would be to visit the comrades injured during the battle.]

We had to deal with much out there... how are you doing?

2) [Action]

[Wandering around the Chalice you would hear an odd scraping noise somewhere. Like someone was scratching away at a wall.]

[Upon turning a corner you could see that was the case. It was Cheng, carving something into a seemingly random wall on the Chalice with a combat knife. It was Azrad's name. And it wasn't the only one there. Ryo Masaoka, Frank Symes and Shouko Hazama. Cheng was making an effort to remember those comrades who had fallen in the line of duty - because there were more than the names of those who were members of the Chalice, those who associated themselves and fought alongside them were on the wall as well - the Fafner Pilots on the L-Boat and Hadou Kozou to name a few. All of them deserved to be remembered.]

Was there a name I missed out?

3) [Action]

[A familiar sight to some, Cheng was practically burying himself in the After Action Reports. But there were a lot of other things as well, a few books about myths and legends, magic, space travel, information about mass drivers and the orbital elevators, agriculture, politics. Anyone who has been on the Asura may recognize some of these books. Cheng seems to be researching almost random subjects that would not normally be connected to each other in addition with going over the information in the previous battles... just what was he doing?]

Alright. I'll try to make this quick...

Now, when a human male and a human female have sexual intercourse, in this method [She clicks a button, flipping to a helpful explanatory slide], it is possible-but not guaranteed-that the female will have a child begin to grow inside their womb. This can be avoided through a number of medical methods known as contraceptives. Medical science being what it is, these can be taken orally. We have quite a few on board, and if you stop by the infirmary at any point, I will be more than happy to hand them off to you along with the appropriate instructions.

Humans being the naturally inventive and curious sort we are, there are a wide variety of other forms of sexual intercourse which cannot result in a pregnancy. [Several slides flip by in rapid succession, depicting such poses. Also a pig.] These are collectively referred to as "Sodomy". While they cannot result in a pregnancy, these acts can transmit certain diseases, almost all of which can be cured or prevented with proper care. Yes, it is embarrassing, but if anything weird is going on with your genitals, do come to the sickbay about it. I shall avoid telling others.

In short, if you are planning to engage in sexual acts, do talk to one of the ship's medical staff beforehand. If you are sick, come to them. And never, ever, have intimate contact with Luger Amwulf.

Are there any questions?

[If anyone came to the Gym they would see Cheng going through some intense hand to hand training in full armor. With great difficulty of course - but he would train until his knuckles bled under his armor.]

[One would think that after Adventus he would take it easy and join the party. But a soldier's work is never done. For those skilled in noticing body language you could see despite the armor he wore... he was doing this with purpose. 2) [Simulators]

[For those who noticed Cheng recording his training, should one visit the simulators they would find out what he was doing. He was attempting to translate his combat techniques into his piloting. Kamille would have seen the earliest results of this when Cheng had been puppeted into doing the bidding of Adventus. So far Cheng has met with much failure in his attempts. He was often too slow, or mistimed or had moved the controls the wrong way or the technique was inneffective against mecha. But with each trial and error, he learned and he modified.]

[His latest attempt is successful as he broke apart a simulated Marasai's arm, grabbed it by the head and ended it with a stab to the cockpit. Cheng smiles. Then he starts up the simulations again.]

My friends.... comrades... if... you will still allow me to call you that... I owe you all a tremendous apology for what had happened. For what I was forced to do.

[He takes a deep breath before continuing, clearly the guilt he was feeling was very real.]

I do not know how long Adventus has had control of me. I can only assume that they had me in their hands from the beginning of our journey. The man called RGNK had a hand in it, given our previous encounter... and our battle with him... I...

[He isn't sure how to continue.]

My treachery... despite it being out of my control is still my fault. Even if I was not a willing participant I was still a tool used to cause pain and suffering among our own. Captain, would you like to say anything to everyone before we begin?

Indeed I would!

EVERYONE!  IN CASE YOU GET CAUGHT, BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR GET-OUT-OF-JAIL FREE CARD ON HAND!

[Aaaand cue headsigh before Ayame opens up a fleet-wide broadcast.]

Alright then people.  Believe it or not, we're the diversion here for the DC's own offensive into Adventus territory.  And that's fine by me.  Everyone, we're going to be betting it all on this and we'll either be leaving this place together or we'll be joining our comrades already imprisoned.  We have intel and we have a link to our comrades on the inside.

And most importantly I think I speak for everyone when I say I want to take back everything and everyone who was taken from us.

We've all discussed plans of attack and how we're going to do this, but that's in the past now.  Now's the time to make good on everything we said.

[Now cue Dan, in full military regalia!]

RIGHT!  All pilots and crewmembers, prepare for battle!  On-foot teams, standby for insertion via Getter!  Shotarou, send everyone inside a line so they can time their breakout with this!

ALL FORCES... CHAAAAAAARGE!

(Here it is!  We've plotted to a degree and the time for action is now!  There'll be several "fronts" for this, each with its own thread and probably we'll have subthreads too.  Keep in mind to not go around godmoding things and let everyone take part in the awesomeness... and if you want to discuss and carry out some event with the mods specifically or just have a question to ask, drop one of the mods a line.)

[As everyone has been locked back into their cells after an "interview and music session" with Dr RGNK you can hear the sound of a trio of people walking down the corridor. This was odd because for those of you keeping track you would have noticed that everyone that was captured had already went for their own "chat" with the musically inclined Adventus General.]

Heh, maybe we should put him with the rest. See what happens.

We got orders. He gets his own cell.

Pity. Would've been fun to see the scrap it would've caused. He'd have to fight the people he was supposed to be on the same side with again! Hah!

[What was that? Fight the people he was supposed to- Oh. OH. Lo and behold here's Cheng getting herded into a cell. He was surprisingly passive aside from a VERY dark scowl on his face. The moment he was locked in his cage he just stared daggers at the guards.]

What're you gonna do big man? Fight me? Hah! Then where'd you go? You sure as hell don't have any friends here.

That's enough. We've got a job to do. Stop acting like a schoolyard bully and get back on track.

[The guards soon left. The cells were for a lack of better term, ungoverned. And Cheng's cell was right at a sweet spot where many of you can see him while you yell/talk.]

[Against all odds and possibly sanity as well, it's the wedding day. Surely no hijinks will ensue!]

1.
[Preparation prompt - because both the groom and the bride will probably require some help from others, being socially clueless like they are. May also include a bachelor party.]

2.
[Time for the ceremony. As invited guests, feel free to comment and gossip on what is going on. But wait, not only is the soon-to-be couple still absent, so is the minister!

Wait, do we even HAVE a minister onboard?]

3.
[Post-ceremony, but the reception is not over yet. Socialize, dance and be merry! Also gorge yourselves on piles of food prepared by Tsukasa's kitchen slaves.]
